CG #006: 5 Steps To Gain Focus And Show Up Consistently Online

Put Your Best Work Into The World Without Anxiety

Hello 👋🏾,

Welcome to another edition of the Chase Growth Newsletter!

Each Saturday I send out a newsletter sharing my thoughts and findings around:

  • Personal Development

  • Online Automation

  • Content Creation

Today's edition will take about 4 minutes to read.

Let's dive into it.

5 Steps To Gain Focus And Show Up Consistently Online

I have a love-hate relationship with social media.

The platforms have allowed us to connect and interact in ways previously unseen.

At the same time, their algorithms are optimized to trap and retain our attention.

If unchecked, we become rats wasting our time spinning on a wheel of dopamine.

So much information with very little relevance to our day-to-day lives.

Recently, in an aim to create more on these platforms, something strange happened.

I came up with a system that helped me see the good and fall in love with social again.

I broke it into 5 steps which I can't wait to share with you today.

Audit Your Feed

Just like a plant benefits from trimming dead leaves,

You can benefit from removing people from your feed and following.

As you grow, the influencers you liked and the things your friends do become unrelatable.

Keeping these people popping up on your timeline can be anxiety provoking.

At best, they take up space for the people and information that benefit you most.

Taking some time to unfollow is an easy way to give your feed a facelift.

Doing this improved my overall mood when on social media apps.

Batch Content Creation

As every creator knows, staying consistent is a battle of its own.

Over 4 years of creating, I have realized one thing,

You need to systemize the way you create and distribute your content.

Here is the strategy that I am finding effective right now.

Make a system that suits you and stick to it.

No more creating content every day of the week!

Schedule Your Posts

Recently someone told me, “If you do something impulsively, you probably did not think it through enough.”

This could not be more true when it comes to social media.

Using automation to schedule my posts has change my whole relationship with content.

Instead of constant anxiety about creating and sending the next post live.

I now sit in anticipation of how my content will perform.

This shift creates time for what is now my favorite activity on social media.

Set Time To Interact With Others

For many, social media is not a very social experience.

Have you sat behind a screen taking in reels of content without replying once?

I have, and it is something I have worked hard to change.

Being deliberate about joining conversations online is game-changing.

As you interact with others, you learn more and get more engagement in return.

Leave the loneliness behind, join the conversation.

Track Time Usage and Growth Metrics

Screentime is scary. But hiding from it creates more problems than it solves.

Tracking the amount of time spent on social apps is step one to creating mindful habits.

If social media is your job, does the amount of time you spend there justify your income?

If not, it could be time to reconsider your approach.

Tracking your audience growth is one of the most rewarding experiences as a creator.

In order to know how to get better, you need a firm grasp on where you currently are.

In case you did not read the whole letter (I skip to the bottom sometimes too):

  1. Audit your feed

  2. Batch content creation

  3. Schedule your posts

  4. Set time to interact with others

  5. Track time usage and growth metrics
