AI Workflow Automation Tools For Dummies
Last month I attended a conference for young athletes
It was hosted by the Barbados Olympic Association
The aim of this conference was to help establish leaders in sport in Barbados
The allure of the conference was the chance to win a trip to Greece
Not to Mykonos, but to the Olympia Villages to connect with leaders worldwide
To win, you had to give a compelling personal presentation on a pertinent topic
This was completely optional and only a few people actually gave it a shot
Of course, I entered, and I will leave it up to you to guess if I won or not
But that’s not entirely what this blurb is about
During the last session of the last day of the conference, we got a task
We had to get into groups and make a creative presentation
The goal: To sum up a group presentation which we had given earlier
I found this a bit redundant, but it was an interesting concept
As one of the 5 people (of 12) who gave the extra presentation, my brain was dead
So, with limited time, like any good leader, I turned to my ole pal, Chat GPT
I told it everything we did in our presentation and asked it to make a poem
After 3 minutes of writing an in-depth prompt…
VOILA!
It spit out a perfectly coherent poem that we could present as a group
Was this cheating? NO
Why? Because we had already done the work, we just formatted it with AI
This is aligned with one of my new core beliefs
“AI will not replace humans, but humans who use AI will replace those who don’t”
So, did I use Chat GPT when preparing my winning personal presentation?
Of course, I did! It’s an incredible tool for research
But the use cases don’t stop there
I’ve been using it almost daily and I wanted to share a bit of what I am seeing
It’s good to remember there are thousands of AI tools
By no means do I consider myself an expert in the field of AI
I do want to share how I maximize the use of two of the more common AI tools
GPT and BARD

Microsoft and Google are in an all-out arms race for the AI space
For those living under a rock, Bard is Google’s equivalent to Chat GPT (C-GPT)
They have similar use cases but unique approaches to solving user problems
Let’s take a look at the future of how we interact with computers
User Experience
If it’s one thing Google understands, it is human nature and psychology
As with most Google products, Bard has an exceptional user experience
The tone of voice used by Bard is much closer to a human
The interface, whilst similar to C-GPT is more modern and sleek
However, the chatty nature of Bard is often surplus to required information
Also, Bard has no memory
With C-GPT you can reference things you asked it 2-3 questions ago
Bard will give you an error message
Bard is much younger and is still being developed so I’m sure this will be addressed
But for now, it cannot have a congruent coherent conversation in the way C-GPT does
With that being said, C-GPT feels a lot more like you are talking to a robot
It just delivers the information, no chit-chat
The AI has a tendency to be lazy and choose the easiest path to minimal results
Sometimes you will have to ask it twice to structure content in certain ways
This is why it is important you prompt it correctly to achieve your desired results
Performance and Accuracy
For the everyday consumer, Bard proves to be more accurate
Not only does it source real-time information,
(Chat GPT free version assesses information from 2021 and earlier)
But it summarizes based on social validity (Google ranking system)
This is both a pro and a con
Bard is clearly designed to achieve the goals of the AVERAGE person
It reminds me of that lesson you learn as a beginner writer…
“If you want people to understand your writing, write at a 7th-grade (12y/o) level”
It’s clear that Google uses this model for its information relay
They dumb down the average response so it suits what the masses would be looking for
It almost seems as though it aims to not mislead by staying general
Ethically this is great, however its hard to gain detailed information (even with deep prompts)
For those experienced with prompt writing, Chat GPT is more powerful
The range of responses generated from C-GPT ranges widely depending on the prompts
It has a tendency to find information to support biased prompts
So some initial (or additional) research is advised before utilizing GPT text
So, how should you go about laying out prompts?
Consider this very basic prompt structure:
“Act as x” + “help with y” + “present in z” way.
Example:
“Act as a legal advisor and help me to create a contract I can use for a 3-month engagement as a freelancer with a healthcare brand. Present it to me in an outline with spaces for legal signatures.”
When prompted correctly GPT trumps Bard. (For now)
As a Google fan, I’m intrigued to see what the future holds.
Use Cases
Of course, none of this stuff matters if it has no real-world application
So here are some ideas of the things you can use these tools for
To demonstrate the power, I will use the tools to generate the answers
I will enter the following prompt into both C-GPT and Bard and share the responses below.
I am writing a newsletter comparing Chat GPT and Google Bard. I need you to act as a high-level research assistant with 10 years of experience and tell me some great use cases of (GPT or Bard) [I will ask the tool to give it’s best use cases]. Please provide me with the 5 most commonly used use cases as well as 5 unconventional use cases which can be very useful to people in everyday life. Present it to me in list format and use concise wording.

As you can see from the formatting, my analysis above is consistent
Summary
Imagine you had a friend who had read every website on the internet
Well, I just introduced you to two of them
The ways in which people use these tools are becoming more and more creative
I highly recommend that you jump in and start using them
Personally, I believe they will be so integrated into future tech tools that we won’t even notice when we are using AI
Until we get there, there is a gap to be exploited
Use the tools for your gain and neglect them to your potential detriment
