Today's edition be a 4 minute read.
Let's dive into it.
How To Use AI To Create An Online Persona
I did something unethical
It feels that way at least
AI has revolutionized content creation
But only a few people are taking advantage right now
I believe AI characters are the way forward for brands
There are many advantages to something like this
Cheaper to produce content
Easy to produce content at scale
Avatar could change to suit customers
With all that being said, what I did last weekend seemed revolutionary
I am not sure, but it might actually be illegal (don’t snitch)
At worst, I think it forces us to think about AI differently
Where do we draw the line regarding rights to IP?
But that’s not what today’s letter is about
Onward
This whole idea started as a project for FootyTutor
I wanted to create a “face” for the brand
I wanted the avatar to feel familiar
As if it was someone people already knew
So I chose two prominent media figures in football
Kate Abdo - A prominent TV reporter

Fabrizio Romano - The biggest football journalist

The captivating likeness of Kate + authority of Fabrizio = Katie Romana
Enter AI to help me make this a reality
To begin I needed an avatar similar to Kate
So I headed over to Midjourney
I used a reference pic and put in some more parameters

Reference picture of Kate Abdo I feeded to the AI
content creator, sitting behind a desk front and center to the camera, home sports studio background with cool volumetric lighting, studio lighting, ultra-realistic image, subject occupying 1/3 of the frame in the center
Midjourney produced these four characters

4 options I had for the avatar
In the end, I chose this one

Katie Romana
Was this the right decision? (reply to this email to let me know)
Next, I had to give her a voice
For this I used the best AI voice tool on the market
After a quick reference upload, I could now create any audio by just typing
How accurately it portrayed Kate’s voice and cadence was mind-blowing
You could easily start whole podcasts with celebrity voices
But that is also not what we are focusing on today
As you can probably tell, this stuff excites me
Next, I needed to add the voice to the avatar
For that I used an “image to video” AI tool called Heygen
Heygen has a list of avatars
These avatars lip sync very well when adding external audio
Because I was creating my own avatar, the lip sync was not that great
This was disappointing for me but these tools are still very new
Regardless, I was still blown away by the result
She was alive, she was speaking, this could work!
One more step
I wanted to post on Youtube shorts
So I knew I needed to add some b-roll
I chose a football update as my first post
Easy enough and a good test post
So to add the final touches
I went over to Adobe Premier Pro
After adding some b-roll and logos
This is what the final post looked like
I want to remind you, this was my first EVER post like this
I spent about 20 - 30 minutes researching and applying at each level
Imagine if I spent 1 hour designing a crazy lifelike avatar?
Imagine If I built an automation to give me football updates
Then a system to have my AI create these at scale and post frequently
This type of thing would disrupt social media houses
This is always my goal, disruption and innovation
The biggest hurdle?
These AI tools cost $$ and I would need a small team to manage it
Here is where I make an honest ask
I am looking for someone who wants to fund a cool project like this
To help us stress test these AI systems and play on the edge of innovation
What can I offer in return?
The chance to give your creative and directional input
If this person is you, please reach out, let’s talk
If you know someone who might be interested, forward this to them
Of course, you now see that what I did is NOT illegal
AI will present great opportunities for creatives to make cool work
In the interest of keeping this letter short, I wont dive further into that
Maybe in a future letter
For now, I am going to see how the world reacts to Katie
Maybe you will see her on your feed someday soon
TL;DR
How To Use AI To Create an Online Persona
Use Midjourney to animate reference persona
Use Eleven Labs to create text to audio voice
Use Heygen to merge AI Image and audio (bring it to life)
Use Adobe creative suit to add finishing touches
