Let’s get into it!
Maximize Each Moment
Hi guys,
How are you doing this week?
I am currently a bit tired. The weather fluctuation in the UK has been affecting my sleep. Today is cool and grey today but yesterday it was warm and sunny.
The temperature changes at night affect me more than I thought they would.
Also, I went hard in the gym last week as I ramped up my training. It feels good but we all know how it feels to be sore moving through your day-to-day.
Anyway, we move!
This week I have been reflecting on how many spaces and faces I have come across this year.
Between becoming a Youth Ambassador and connecting with my friends from college, this summer has been abundant with experiences that I am so grateful for.
But all of these things now feel like a distant memory, a dream almost.
And it reminds me today that life is just the culmination of very small moments.
Something that feels like it is consuming you today is completely gone tomorrow.
With this in mind, I have been trying to be deliberate with how I spend each moment.
Bear in mind that whether you “enjoy” what you are doing or not, it will be over in an instant.
In good times, be grateful and enjoy.
In tough times, get your head up and keep pushing.
Both will pass by and soon be nothing but a memory.
I urge you to be deliberate and enjoy each moment in this season.

Deep Dive
Creator/Brand:
Morning Brew

Who are they:
According to ChatGPT, “Morning Brew is a media company that delivers business news and insights in a conversational, easy-to-digest format. It primarily targets young professionals, offering a daily email newsletter that covers the latest in business, finance, tech, and other relevant industries. The content is designed to be engaging and informative, making complex topics accessible and entertaining for its audience.”
They were one of the pioneers of the new newsletter business model as a distribution platform.
I believe that newsletters are modern-day magazines.
People don’t want to constantly search for material. They want credible, curated, trending topics on the issues they love delivered to their inbox 1-7 times per week for FREE.
The opportunity here is endless. As we work on launching the new collaboration project with Socceroof, I did a deep dive into Morning Brew’s social media to understand how they are currently driving growth.
How can you find them:
Big Lesson:
It is clear that Morning Brew now sees itself as a full media company and not just a newsletter.
The strategy that they have just started implementing is truly impressive.
They are aligning with independent creators and having them launch collaborative accounts.

This is brilliant for a few reasons:
Instant credibility for creators
high-quality, creator-driven content for the main page
The ability to tap into subcultures and develop deep roots while appearing as an authority
Also, the big win for the wider market is there is now more factual authority-backed content for social media platforms.
Creators get paid, consumers get content, and exponential growth for Morning Brew. Win Win Win.
Carl’s Take
It is interesting to see a brand deploy a strategy like this.
I tried to deploy this exact strategy with FootyTutor 1 year ago.
We reached out to 11 creators and put together a team we called the “Starting 11.”
They were supposed to keep creating their content and have shared posts with us as the main platform and we send brand deals their way.
However, this strategy failed for three reasons:
Too many creators
We were ambitious to try to scale this to 11 creators from the start, in reality, 4 expert creators in specific sub-niches would have been perfect.
Not enough diversity
All of the creators we chose created similar types of content. This meant that our page was soon flooded with similar, lukewarm content. Not unique angles coming from different pockets of the market.
No brand deals
If you can’t pay creators to co-post on your platform, they will just go back to doing it for themselves.
I believe the road from 250k to 1M for FootyTutor is through collaboration. There is a lot to learn from how Morning Brew is deploying their strategy. Most importantly, it confirms that my thought process was innovative but my execution was poor.
Lots of room to grow.
